I write MM romance book reviews on Goodreads, Bookbub, Barnes and Noble.com, and Amazon. I also cross-post all my reviews here on my blog. Passionate about reading and creativity, I love to share the latest book I couldn’t stop reading. While I don’t review every book I read, I spontaneously review the books that stand out. I snag arcs from Booksprout and BookSirens that I agree to read to provide an honest review.

Fast Reader
Particularly, I read fast. In 2023, I read 218 books. And in 2024, I read right at 200 books, largely in one main genre. MM Romance books are my main genre, but I will occasionally read an MMF Romance book. It has to be really remarkable for me to read a straight romance.
Growing MM Romance
MM romance is a smaller genre than MF romance, and I want to help the genre grow. I enjoy reading and reviewing MM romance books to do my part in getting small authors’ books in the hands of those who will enjoy them. I also read more mainstream MM romance authors, but I enjoy helping authors who are building their reader base.
ARC Reviewing
I am a member of BookSirens and Booksprout where I agree to download and read advanced reader copies of upcoming novels for honest reviews. ARC reviewing is awesome. I get to read the book before its release, and provide the author with an honest and detailed review on Goodreads and Amazon.
I love to read Advance Reader Copies from Booksprout and BookSirens. It’s especially rewarding to me when I read an upcoming book and can leave a stellar review for the author!
A (More) Formal Review Process
Over time, the format of my MM romance book reviews evolved. I used to only review books that stood out as remarkable in some way: either really good or really bad. I didn’t follow a set format for my reviews, just wrote about what I liked and didn’t. Over time, I shifted to a more formal review process when this part of Fae’s Journal took off. I review objectively and fairly. I also explore the overall themes in the book, the characterizations of the characters, the author’s writing style. My reviews tend to be long, detailed, and thorough.
*I do not hand out 5/5 star reviews to everyone.*
Honest Reviews
I now follow a set format for reviews and take steps to ensure that things are equitable: not overly critical or overly effusive. Though I am honest. Especially, if I struggle with an aspect of the book, I will detail my issues. Be it the writing style, the themes, the characterizations, whatever it is. That’s part of the review process. Glows: what I like, and grows: what needs improvement. But I do so constructively. It’s important to me to provide a complete review of the book, even if there are parts of the story I do not like.
