These Games are New(ish)

Mobile gaming exploded in popularity since smartphones became the norm. If you are old like me, we grew up without games at our fingertips and the sheer number of mobile games can be overwhelming.

Mobile Apps are Accessible

One of the best things about mobile games is that they are more accessible than console games or PC games. Everyone can play a mobile game. My father, in his 70s, is on an obscenely high level of Candy Crush, for example. My mother, also in her 70s, has a daily rotation of games that she plays on her phone and iPad. In other words, even people who wouldn’t consider themselves ‘gamers’ play mobile games regularly.

They’re mostly free, they’re easy to access, and most of them aren’t time-intensive.

Types of Games

The most popular genre of games varies by age group and other market segments. There are classic puzzle games like the aforementioned Candy Crush but as phones improve their functionality the types of games that a phone can handle continues to expand. Now, playing intensive action games is possible on a phone or tablet. So, pretty much all genres of games are represented in the field of mobile gaming.
