A Throne and a Crown Review
A Throne and a Crown by Adelaide Blaike | My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Last of the Series
A Throne and a Crown is the last in the Riehse Eshan Series. I am sad this is the last book because I truly, unabashedly love this series. And I loved A Throne and Crown. Loved it! I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this last glimpse into Ren and Nat’s life. Having enjoyed the whole series, I felt honored to get my hands on it early. It was a gratifying and exhilarating end to the story and I enjoyed every bit of it.
Light and Dark
The content was light enough while still in line with what sort of thing we’ve come to expect in the world created by Blaike. There is a little bit of mystery, a lot of pining, some Seeing, and an appearance by Dima who I was thrilled to see doing okay in his tower.
Mat’s Sight
Most importantly, I loved seeing how Mat’s Sight has progressed post-training and the glimpses he Saw into one potential future. It was enough to bring tears to this sappy reader’s eyes. I am truly happy to know how they’ll live their lives together.
Ren’s Abductors
I figured out the surprise identity of Ren’s ‘abductors’ fairly quickly but I enjoyed the false clues Blaike gave along the way to have readers guessing where the story would go.
Bow Tie Ending
In all, I felt like this was a perfect bow to tie up the series. You do need to have read the other books in the series, but if you’ve read the others in the series there’s absolutely no way you should miss this last installment. Buckle up and say a proper goodbye to Riese Eshan, as bittersweet as it is. I loved this series and it’s one of my favorites.
This is my unbiased review of an ARC version of this book. Thank you to Adelaide Blaike for letting me read the ARC, I will miss Mat and Ren so so much, I’m sad to say good bye to them.
