Siri versus Google Voice Search

Posted on Thursday, November 22, 2012 in All Things Geek, Web

In one corner, Siri and iOS, in the other, Google Voice Search and Droid OS. Ready to battle it out to the death.  Well not really. But I had to set the stage.

This article details an interesting blow by blow comparison of Siri versus Google Voice search results. Sometimes it surprised me that Google won, sometimes it surprised me that Siri won. I think it’s a pretty even draw, in all honesty. This is part of why I think the whole Droid vs. iOS battle is pretty silly.

Editing the dictionary on HTC Incredible 2

Posted on Thursday, March 29, 2012 in All Things Geek

So last night a friend and I were discussing how to update and correct custom dictionary entries on our Droid phones and it set me on a mission to find a solution to this extremely pressing issue.

I have been messing with it today and finally found a workable way to do it, if you’re interested.

Apparently my phone, the HTC Incredible 2 that runs Gingerbread 2.3.4 makes it really hard to edit the words that have been added to the dictionary. But I found this work around.

I downloaded this app that lets you load a custom dictionary into your phone’s dictionary from a text file. So what you do is keep a text file on your phone of all the words you want in your dictionary and then when the mistakenly added words get to be too much of a nuisance, all you have to do is clear the custom added data from your dictionary and then reload your text file into the dictionary.

It’s not a perfect solution but it will work for now.
